Most offenses will require you to have this insurance for three years from the end date of any revocation. DWI and Refusal convictions SR-22 is required for five years from the end date of the first offense. SR22 insurance must be maintained for the life of the driver if there is Unsatisfied Judgment or after the fourth DWI or Refusal conviction.
How do I get an SR22 policy started?
An SR-22 form is just an add on to an auto insurance policy which is very simple. Have your court case information ready to provide to the insurance company that will include the case number and required time to hold the SR22. The insurance company will normally charge between $20 and $50 to add the form to the policy.
What is the penalty for cancelling my SR22 policy early?
If you let your SR-22 insurance policy lapse or cancel prior to the end of your court ordered period the driver's license will be revoked. In this case your suspension period will start over. Keep in mind that you can change insurance companies during this period but be sure to get a new SR22 filed before the old one is cancelled.

Required to Install an Ignition Interlock Device?

What if I live in a remote location where vehicle registration is not required?
