You will need an SR-22 form filed to the Department of Motor Vehicles if you have had license suspension for the following violations:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (DUI)
- Failure to drive with proper insurance
- Failure to pay child support
- Accumulation of 12 points on driving record in one year
- Failure to appear in court
- Street racing

How long do I need an SR22 in Nevada?
The holding period is 3 years from the date of your license reinstatement. If you fail to maintain the SR22 insurance policy at any time during this 3 year period your license will be suspended again. This will result in the 3 year probation period to start over again. Keep in mind the Nevada DMV does not notify you when you are eligible to remove the SR-22 filing.
How much does SR22 insurance increase my premiums?
The cost to file the SR-22 is only $25-$50 depending on the auto insurance company. If you notice an increase in your insurance premiums once the SR22 is added it is likely due to the violation that caused you to file the SR22. For example if you failed to pay child support this would not increase your insurance costs but street racing would dramatically increase your auto insurance rates. Nevada SR22 Insurance Requirements
The state of Nevada requires liability insurance to protect other drivers in the event of an accident. The minimum limits are:
- $25k Per Person Bodily Injury
- $50k Per Accident Bodily Injury
- $20k Property Damage
While these limits are minimum they are rarely recommended levels of coverage. Ask your insurance agent what they recommend based on your financial position.
Suspended License Reinstatement
In order to reinstate your Nevada driver's license you must comply with all the requirements of your suspension. This information can be found in the notice sent to you when suspension was first started. The notice will include the start and end dates of your suspension and any requirements that must be met.

DUI Revocations
